Lake Viñuela Holiday Villas

La Encina and El Padrón are country houses situated in the hills of the Axarquía region of Andalucía, above the popular Lake Viñuela, but in a peaceful and very rural setting, in a scattered hamlet where the population is still mainly Spanish. The self-catering villas were built with rustic touches and gently curving whitewashed walls to reflect the traditional architecture of the area, and have their own private pools and covered terraces as well as plenty of sunbathing space. From the terraces there are panoramic views over the surrounding olive groves, almond trees and vines typical of this traditionally Spanish area.

The beaches of the Mediterranean coast are a short drive away, as are the Sierra Tejeda Mountains, where you can see the wonderful variety of Iberia's wildlife. The houses are reached by a 3.5 kilometre unmade road which winds up into the hills, giving views from Mount Maroma to the Mediterranean coast at Torre del Mar, and around to the white hilltop village of Comares. The Lake Viñuela area is central to many of the attractions of Andalucía, with Granada and the Sierra Nevada only 1.5 hours away, Cordoba 2 hours, and the largely ignored, but interesting, city of Málaga only 40 minutes away.

There are 2 golf courses within 40 minutes of the house, and the coast and beaches are approximately 20 minutes away. Activities available in this area include horse-riding, quad-biking, go-karting, walking, and there are water sports available on the beaches nearer Nerja to the east.
